Reflection at berlin...

Tonight is the second night we(see yee, cheryl.mei yi and I) at berlin and i must admit it,berlin is better than paris. Although they don't have as much old and artistic building as paris, wat they lack in quantity, they have plenty in quality in my opinion.Somehow,i think the buildings here are more majestic compare to those in paris. To name a few,the Reichstag, bradenburg gate, berlin cathedral, they are just majestic to me. Maybe because paris has too many of those buildings that it makes them look....bercelaru? disarray? i don't really have the right word to describe it...hehehe... Plus,no offense to the germans but probably the destruction brought upon berlin by world war 2 has it's own hikmah as it allow them to replan the city layout during it's reconstruction, making it modernly organized.During our first day we follow a free walking tour(yes,it's free!!) and i have to admit,it wasn't a waste of time at all.i do admit i'm a bit tired after the walking(which is worsen by the flight and ice skating the night before) but it was fantastic. Our tour guide is definitely passionate about his work as i can really feel how he felt when he tells stories about the places that we visit and especially when he tells about the fall of the berlin wall, i was really touched. The berlin wall, how a mere wall seperate ppl not just physically but mentally and physiologically.Even the pedestrian traffic signs is different in east and west, all part of the propaganda according to our tour guide, sheesh. Even though the ppl of the east always wanted to go to the west but after years of seperation it has created a small lil difference in mentality. But even so,the story about berlin also shows the negative aspect of the west mentality. After the unification of germany, the ppl of the west tried to change the pedestrian signal in the east to make it the same as ther west, which the ppl of the east oppose fiercely. From the way i see it,the ppl of the east was trying to preserve some of their identity which is being swallow by the west.Instead of mixing and accepting each other, the west culture tried to replace everything in the east(even the pedestrian sign FFS)..well,that's debatable but that's wat i think... even now that happens...i'm glad at malaysia we still are able to accept each other diffenrence and mentality, although not all the times but most of the time.
On the second day we went for tour to one of the concentration camp near berlin. For starters, concentration camp and death camps are 2 different things,do more research on that ppl.During the tour,i've learn about the atrocities happen there and i wonder how easy for us to actually being brain washed by propaganda and becoming evil evil, doing bad things to others, the SS guards.I believe, the SS guards will not be as inhuman as they are usually depicted if not because of the brain wash they receive. Some will still say that they choose to follow their bad leader but we must bear in mind, before WW2,german was in a great depression,so bad that cannibalism was reported(according to our guide) and hitler somehow give them hope for a better future,so good was the hope that they are willing to die for him. So,the way i see it,they are a victim of circumstances...maybe just like the so call muslim terrorist now...maybe they are just a victim of propaganda and disillusionment, thinking that war and terror is the only way for us muslim to be more respected and paid attention...how mere words can change ppl from human to killing machines and the SS guards for example, making them a killing machine and believe that their prisoners are just mere sub-human.
on side note,it seems an advice given to me by a close fren was true and luckily i took that advice,somewhat... though right now i admit i'm a lil bit disappointed but it was still a good advice. Last but not least, something concerning language upsets me here during my trip...but i suppose it's one of the things that tends to happens and will take quite some time to rectify....
i wish i can talk more about wat i think and feel in berlin but i don't have the time nor the words right now... but one thing for sure..berlin is really good

PS: the food here is damn cheap, can get decent meal for around 5 euros...and one of the dark humours during WW2, although under intense air strike, both berlin and london have the same chracteristic, each Air force office was not touched during the intense bombing,i wonder why, probably they think if the air force command is destroyed,no more challenge d...hahaha)
